i wanna be a brick (jake the brick adventure time thoughts)

ill be back with devlogs soon hopefully once i get my brain sorted, but i wanted to talk about something that i think would fit on my blog. i am currently on season 6 of an adventure time rewatch. as i continue to make my way through the series that i havent touched for a good few years. maybe something like god 7 or 8 years? one episode i was looking forward to was jake the brick.
the episode follows jake deciding he does not want to be at home. he misses being at home, but he wants to be a brick. he wants to be apart of the brickwork of a shack when it falls down. so he makes his way into the shack and tells finn what he is doing, which finn does not understand in the slightest but knows his brother needs space. he keeps tabs on jake via walkie talkie which ends up becoming a whole radio broadcast where the entire of ooo is basically tuned in for his wildlife commentary of the life of a bunny.
i think what jake learns here is he doesnt need to be apart of something bigger, or find out what he wants to be immediately. the bunny demonstrates the simplicity of being an animal on earth which to put bluntly we are. even if the home of the bunny is destroyed, the rabbit remains indomitable. he finds a way. life finds a way!
this episode resonates with me in a strange way that i think i am reading too far into. but goddamn sometimes stepping back and just watching the world go by remind you of the beauty in the simple things. jake doesnt need to be a part of this big grander goal when he is content where he is. he knows his spirit can also be unwavering like the rabbit he observes. he can have the community he so needs!!!
also i love the soundtrack in this episode and i think the intro also speaks to me with finn traveling silently to find jake using his map. the quiet moments in adventure time i love the most and this whole episode, while being on the surface filler speaks to the heart of these characters more than some of the heavier plotlines.
i love the way this also allowed us to have some screen time of other characters we havent seen in a minute, with most of the other plotlines getting a feature while jake narrates his discoveries. they all connect over this one bunny which i think everyone related to at one point or another in their lives. people saw themselves in the bunny! like i think i do jake.
the way finn tries three times to throw something at a target, like the apple in the stump or the paper in the wastebin until he finally gets it at the end also i think summarises the episode pretty nicely. finn and jake both being heroes and selflessly helping the people around them is calling enough for finn, but i think jake needed the extra push to see how necessary his place in the world is.
this also reminds me of how i like to listen to this one random podcast before i sleep sometimes. not even sure how i found it. its a scottish podcast called scotland outdoors on bbc radio 4 that i thoroughly enjoy and recommend if you enjoy jake talking about the things he does. the hosts go around speaking to the people of scotland who maintain or study or are involved with the environment around them. one of the episodes i caught recently was the conversations with a group of volunteers maintaining the abandoned and derelict pathways around the scottish moors who do it because they dont want to lose their paths that they love so much but have become too dangerous for others to walk on. hopefully im remembering it correctly but i think this resonates in the same way with me. i think the word im looking for here is that these two pieces of media feels unifying to me as a being on earth.
idk, just some things im thining about late at night. i am loving adventure time, shoutout twin peaks reference in an earlier episode idk which but it was with the barn fighting guy.
stay safe and love yrself please im begging you you know who you are.
